Bright, expressive and effortlessly refreshing, the Martin Berdugo Verdejo 2024 captures the vibrant character that has made Rueda one of Spain’s most exciting white-wine regions. Produced from carefully selected Verdejo grapes grown in premium vineyards around Nava del Rey in Valladolid, this elegant white is enhanced with a small addition of Sauvignon Blanc, adding lift and aromatic complexity.
The vineyards sit 750 metres above sea level, around 14km south of the River Duero. Here, gravelly brown soils rich in calcium and magnesium provide excellent drainage and help concentrate flavour in the grapes. Planted between 1990 and 2006, these vineyards benefit from warm sunny days and cool nights, ideal conditions for producing fresh, aromatic wines with remarkable balance.
In the glass, the wine opens with rich aromas of ripe tropical fruits, layered with hints of gooseberry and a subtle touch of thyme. The palate is beautifully fresh, where crisp acidity balances a surprisingly rounded mouthfeel, leading to a long, clean finish dominated by vibrant tropical fruit notes.
Perfect served chilled as an aperitif, it also pairs wonderfully with crisp green salads, steamed mussels, seafood dishes, baked fish, saffron rice and young cheeses. Made using organic practices and suitable for vegan and vegetarian diets, it’s a modern Spanish white with style and character.
