Typically rosé wine is made from red grapes. The key difference between rosé and red wine is that the skins are left in the juice for a much shorter period of time than red wines which gives the wine its pink colour. The longer the skins are in contact with the juice during fermentation the darker the colour and the deeper the flavour.
Most rosé wines are meant to be drunk young, ideally within a year or two of bottling. There are some premium offerings that can benefit from some short term aging, but generally rosé is best enjoyed fresh.
Ideally rosé wine is best served chilled.
